Today marks the 47th anniversary of the passing of AYO Bankole.

AYO Bankole (17 May 1935 – 6 Nov 1976) was a Nigerian composer, musicologist, ethnomusicologist, choral director, and organist.

He authored a significant amount of Christian liturgical music in Yoruba, as well as composed theme songs for several Nigerian television drama series.
